has always been a part of Shakir’s life. He was introduced to Pilates early on as a child figure skater, in addition to Aikido, Yoga, and Ballet.  These disciplines taught him the mindful and physical benefits of their practice and inspired his interest in movement. After university, he was awarded the Kathy Grant Memorial scholarship to Body Arts and Science International Pilates Academy. Upon completion, he continued his education and gained his Largee Method and 200-hour Yoga certifications.

Shakir has since taught at such studios as Evoke and Fuel Yoga, and Equinox. Whether teaching privates, duets, or group classes, he enjoys combining the practice of yoga with his Pilates and resistance training background, connecting breath to movement, while stretching and sculpting the body to create balance. Every session is an opportunity to both teach and learn while exploring his sense of self through movement with others.
